Pittsburgh should host Ezekiel Elliott more frequently. In a Cowboys victory over the Steelers, Elliott recorded 209 total yards and three touchdowns as a rookie, including the game-winning touchdown.
Ezekiel Elliott turned back time on Thursday night, accumulating 140 yards overall and a touchdown to lead New England against Pittsburgh 21–18.
Ezekiel Elliott, who is still only 28 years old, showed that he still has a lot of life left in him after helping the Patriots end their five-game losing run.
Ezekiel Elliott remarked, grinning, “We needed this a lot man,” in his postgame interview with NFL Media. This was absolutely required. It’s amazing for these guys to come out here and grab this win because it’s been a minute since we’ve won and felt like this.
Rhamondre Stevenson was not in action on Thursday night, so Ezekiel Elliott had a greater duty. In response, he ran for a hard-earned 68 yards on 22 rushes and caught seven passes for 72 yards, including a touchdown reception of 11 yards on the first series of the game.
“I feel good,” Ezekiel Elliott said. “I feel really good. I’m glad I’m able to show you guys I’ve still got it.”
Elliott not only produced but also showed foresight late in the third quarter when New England was holding onto a 21-10 lead. After Bailey Zappe was intercepted by Mykal Walker deep in Patriots territory, he made a tackle that prevented a touchdown. The tackle was used by New England’s defense to force a turnover on downs.
Regarding the tackle, Elliott stated, “Just got to go make that play.” I am aware of our defense strategy. Man, those guys are tough. They ended up turning it over on downs, but I thought they would do a fantastic job of at least holding them to three. Bravo to the defenders; I admire those people.
Elliott may not be contributing as much as he did in his peak with the Cowboys, but he still has the ability to have a significant impact on a game, as demonstrated on Thursday night. The victory also demonstrated his and his teammates’ tenacity throughout New England’s otherwise difficult season.
