Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S9 could share a similar design element

Samsung is undoubtedly concentrating all of its attention on the Galaxy S24 series now that its largest phone launches for 2023 have already taken place.

Over the past few weeks, the rumor mill has provided us with a ton of information on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. In addition, leaked renders have allowed us to see how the new phones will look.

The flat frames on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are likely to be the most notable design change in the Galaxy S24 series, which isn’t expected to feature any significant design modifications. The Galaxy S24 Ultra in particular appears to be a perfect replica of its predecessor, with the others reportedly looking comparable to the Galaxy S23 series.

Whenever the renders of these gadgets were leaked, that is. The speaker grille on the Galaxy S24 Ultra will apparently be a long rectangular strip instead of the pill-shaped apertures seen on current Galaxy flagships. This is reportedly the only minor adjustment Samsung has made to the device.

A Minor Design Change That Won’t Affect the User Experience

Longtime Samsung users will be aware that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, Samsung’s first flagship phones with stereo speakers, had a similar speaker opening design (see the image above), but it was not carried over to later flagships, such as the Galaxy Note 9, which debuted six months later.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra might include that speaker grille design again if the most recent rumor is accurate. Although it’s a small adjustment, some people may not like the way it looks. It won’t really influence how the speakers sound. However, as people rarely look at the bottom of a phone, we don’t believe this will annoy anyone after a few days of using the device.

Naturally, that’s just conjecture, and we can’t draw any conclusions until we see the actual phone. It’s also uncertain whether the speaker grilles on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will get the same treatment. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to get all the answers because Samsung is rumored to be planning to introduce the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in January.
