Following his easy victory against Borna Gojo in the fourth round at Flushing Meadows, Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open. The Serb, who shouted at his box numerous times during the match as he pursued a fourth championship in New York, will take on Taylor Fritz in the round of eight.

Fritz will face the 36-year-old on Tuesday as the definite underdog because he has never defeated Djokovic in any of their seven prior matches. The latter, who has no illusions about the magnitude of the challenge he faces against the top-ranked American player, will undoubtedly have a difficult match, though.

After defeating Gojo, Djokovic remarked, Taylor has been an established top-10 player for the past couple of years and he’s been playing some amazing tennis, particularly on home soil in hard-court tournaments here in the States.

He’s come a long way over the years. The matchups will undoubtedly become more difficult going forward, but I’m up for the challenge.

Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, will be looking to defeat Matteo Arnaldi in his fourth-round encounter later today in order to join Djokovic in the final eight.
